Generic Medicine and Generic Drugs are simply non-patented versions of Brand Medicine which are produced in countries where a Patent does not exist or is not recognized. Both Brand and Generic Medication contain the same active ingredients, however due to the difference in the inactive ingredients, many may differ in name, shape and colour.

Generally speaking, there is no discernible difference between the Brand or Generic version. Both contain the exact same active ingredients and come with the same risks and benefits. Generic drugs must contain the same active ingredients as the original formulation, due to both parties having to adhere to F.D.A. (Food & Drug Association) Regulations. Therefore the main difference between Branded and Generic Medication is the inactive ingredients (shape & color), and the brand name. Generic medicine is produced in Laboratory's which adhere to the exact same F.D.A Standard Procedures as the Brand version and in many cases, is actually produced in the same manufacturing plant as the Brand version.

The F.D.A. Regulatory regularly conduct investigations of all pharmaceutical manufacturers including our own suppliers and all these medications must adhere to the same strict regulations and procedures as their branded counterparts.

Generic medications come with the same risks and benefits as branded medication. With each product you will receive an information booklet which we advise you read carefully. Brand manufacturers cannot hold a patent on a chemical compound (the active ingredient in your medication). What they can and do hold patent on is the name of final product and the colour + shape of the medicine. Hence generic medications provide the same necessary active ingredients but will differ slightly in name, shape and colour.

The main reason we can offer medication cheaper is because generic manufacturers do not have to recover the same expenses required by brand pharmaceutical manufacturers. Costs such as intensive research & development, product testing or mass-marketing of the end product are borne by the original patent manufacturer. Generic manufacturers are simply creating “clones” of already existing medicines (in many cases patent-expired) and therefore can concentrate on chemical synthesis, mass-production and packaging of your product.
