Recommendations

We recommend that you consult your doctor as to prescribe the best schedule for you depending on your skin and how sensitive it is. Please note that Vaniqa, or Elfora which is it's generic equivalent, should only be used on the facial and neck area, and should not be applied to other parts of the body. Elfora is produced and manufactured in Indian by pharmaceutical giant Ranbaxy, and goes through all the F.D.A. (Food and Drug Association) standard regulations as it's branded equivalent. It is recommended that you apply Vaniqa twice a day, usually once in the morning, and again in the evening, or at night time before you go to bed.

Precautions

It will take at least 3 weeks and sometimes even up to 6 weeks before you start to notice an obvious difference in the appearance and growth of the facial hair. If you do not find any difference or are not happy with the desired effect, please stop using this product after six months and consult your doctor about other treatments available. This product is for use for adults only and should not be used on children under the age of 13. Do not get Vaniqa in your eyes or nose, or do not apply to area's of irritated skin, or chapped lips. If so please wash thoroughly with water and dry with a tissue.

Usage

There is a general recommended schedule of applying the cream twice daily, once in the morning, and again in the evening or at night time. You should gently apply a small amount of the cream to the affected area, and massage into the skin until the complete area is covered where you want the desired results. As elflornithine is a chemical based compound, you should allow 5 – 6 minute period before adding make-up or other forms of moisturising creams, as to allow the medication to have full effect. However as people's skin varies in sensitivity, and possible could have allergies towards this product it is advised that you consult your doctor about your personal schedule

Generic Vaniqa (Elfornithine) medicine needs to be stored at room temperature 77F (25C) in a dark, tightly sealed container, away from heat and moisture. After using, remember to secure the lid of your medicine and return to its storage place. Failure to do so may result in diminished product quality over time. Your medicine has a shelf life of 18 months from date of production.

While taking this medicine, what are the signs of negative side effects?

If you experience any problems with your skin, please refrain from using this until irritation subsides. If you suffer any of the following, we recommend you stop immediately, and if the infected area does not clear after one week, we advise you to consult your local pharmacist for some advise. Stop using Vaniqa if any of the following apply:

• irritation of the skin

• chapped lips

• open cuts, bruises or bleeding of the skin

• sensitive skin that irritates easily

• burns, scars

• skin discolouration

• stinging or pain sourcing from the contacted area

If you experience any discomfort or pain that doesn't subside, you must consult your Doctor or Physician immediately. This may be a sign of a serious problem and must be treated right away to prevent permanent damage. If you experience nausea, dizziness, unbearable skin pain after applying this medicine, contact your doctor or health care professional as soon as possible.

What to do if you suspect an overdose

If you suspect you have applied too much of this product, contact your local doctor or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include over application of the cream, dosage too strong for you skin sensitivity, allergy to the product or temporary or infection of the skin.

Medical Notes : Elfornithine

It is advised not to use elfornithine if you are pregnant or planning on having a baby. Also while breastfeeding, you should refrain from using this product. If you miss a dose, please do not apply the cream within four hours of your next dose. Vaniqa is generally prescribed to adults only, generally females, and should not be taken by children. Please keep out of reach from children, as if swallowed can be dangerous. Elfora comes in a 15gram tube and contains the active ingredient elfornithine, which is the same active ingredient as found in it's branded equivalent, Vaniqa. This product will take at least one month of usage before the full desired effect can be obtained.
